No Japanese language or teaching experience is necessary, but will be looked upon favorably during the hiring process. Since the 1980s, the Japanese Ministry of Education has called for native English speakers to work in Japan as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) to teach their language and culture. Heart School stands out among other English school companies, who hire teachers just for the "Eikaiwa" or English Conversation School sector.
